What happened
Trade Republic said on 15 September 2026 that it had launched a local branch in Belgium, starting that day. In a press release datelined Brussels, the company said Belgian customers could now use a Belgian IBAN and a free current account with a card, and that it had passed 100,000 customers in Belgium. Brussels Times reported the same day that the German app-based bank would start offering Belgian bank account numbers and had opened a Brussels office to support them.
Trade Republic said new customers receive 3% interest on cash balances up to €50,000, with the ECB rate of 2.50% applying above that amount. It said existing customers earn the ECB rate of 2.5%, effective from 16 September, and can unlock the 3% rate for three months for each successful referral, up to one year. Interest is calculated daily and paid monthly. The company also listed a 1% Saveback on eligible card payments, zero ATM fees on withdrawals over €100 and automated Belgian tax handling. Brussels Times added that savings interest in Belgium is subject to a 30% withholding tax. The sources gave no deposit, revenue or valuation figures for the Belgian business.

Why it matters
The company said the account lets users receive salaries, pay bills and make instant transfers. This widens the product beyond investing, which bears on the size of the cash and custody base behind a valuation.
More than 100,000 Belgian customers is the company's own figure, repeated by Brussels Times. The sources give no balances per customer, so the deposit volume this represents is not known.
