What happened
Ripple announced on August 3, 2026 strategic investments in ZILO and Licuido, two UK-based companies that build infrastructure for tokenized assets. Yahoo Finance, in an article published August 4, described the investments as equity stakes that converted existing commercial partnerships into ownership positions. Neither Ripple's press release nor the Yahoo Finance article disclosed amounts, valuations, ownership percentages or other terms.
According to Ripple, ZILO provides transfer agency and fund administration technology with digital record-keeping for tokenized share classes, and Licuido handles the issuance, distribution and trading of tokenized traditional assets, including fund shares, so they can move as onchain collateral. Ripple said the investments built on its existing partnerships with both companies and brought regulated transfer agency, issuance and collateral mobility to its infrastructure on the XRP Ledger. Yahoo Finance reported that Licuido was already the tokenization infrastructure for the Aviva Investors USD Liquidity Fund, which went live on the XRP Ledger on July 29, 2026. Ripple said its stablecoin, RLUSD, served as the regulated cash leg for delivery-versus-payment transactions.

Why it matters
Ripple moved from commercial partner to equity holder in two suppliers of tokenized-fund infrastructure. With no amounts disclosed, the size of the commitment relative to Ripple's balance sheet cannot be judged.
ZILO covers the regulated record of fund ownership and Licuido covers issuance and collateral use. Nigel Khakoo, Ripple's SVP of Trading and Markets, said both provide core capabilities essential to further scaling the shift to tokenized funds.
Licuido's role in a fund already live on the XRP Ledger gives the stakes a working deployment behind them, as reported by Yahoo Finance.
