Barret Zoph is a co-founder of Thinking Machines Lab, the artificial intelligence startup led by former OpenAI chief technology officer Mira Murati, where he served as chief technology officer until January 2026. He spent six years as a research scientist at Google Brain and later became a vice president of research at OpenAI.
